For July, we didn't have a country beginning with the letter J to choose from, but that didn't stop us from continuing our project. Instead, we decided to focus on Jaipur, India—and what an inspiring choice it turned out to be.

We explored forts, palaces, astronomical sites, courtyards, extraordinary interiors, and delicate architectural details, all showcasing the incredible richness of this city.

Color is everywhere in Jaipur. From the distinctive pink that gives it the nickname "The Pink City" to vibrant yellows, deep blues, golds, and silvers, color is an essential part of its architectural identity and cultural legacy.

Beyond color, Jaipur offered endless inspiration through its craftsmanship, geometry, symmetry, ornamentation, and the beautiful relationship between architecture, light, and shadow.

Every photograph in this blog was taken during my travels and reflects the inspiration I found throughout this remarkable city.

Reaching for the Stars

Not everything in Jaipur is defined by decorative patterns and intricate ornamentation. At the Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory, we discovered a completely different architectural language—one dominated by strong, pure geometric forms.

Triangles, squares, circles, and semicircles create unique compositions, while shades of pink, yellow, and ochre come together in perfect harmony. Walking among these monumental structures is an experience in itself, allowing you to explore and discover the secrets of ancient astronomy in a remarkably well-preserved setting.

For designers, it is a fascinating reminder of how geometry, scale, color, and function can come together to create architecture that is both practical and visually powerful.

Palaces and Forts

From steps designed to reach for the stars to steps leading us into Jaipur’s magnificent palaces and forts, the architectural richness of India is revealed everywhere—in grand entrance portals, carved columns, sculpted elephants, courtyards, balconies, doors, and windows.

Every corner offers something new to discover: a special view, an intricate detail, or a different material, all showcasing a rich architectural legacy that we can still appreciate and draw inspiration from today.

For designers, these extraordinary buildings offer endless lessons in proportion, scale, symmetry, and hierarchy, reminding us how architecture can guide movement, frame views, and transform the simple act of entering a building into a memorable experience.

It's all in the Details

To truly discover Jaipur, you need to look beyond the grandeur of its palaces and appreciate the intricate details that make these places so unique.

This image captures that perfectly: the richness of the colors, the architectural forms framing the entryway, the delicate painted flowers, and the beautifully crafted peacock all come together in an extraordinary composition.

For me, it represents the essence of Jaipur—a place where color, craftsmanship, architecture, and decoration work together in harmony, reminding us that sometimes the smallest details are what make a design truly unforgettable.

The View from the Top

The beauty of Jaipur is not only found at street level, but also from the top of its buildings, where terraces, corridors, balconies, and rooftops continue the city’s intricate architectural language.

Colors, patterns, and forms become powerful design elements, creating beautiful spaces from which to pause and contemplate the surrounding city.

From this perspective, Jaipur reveals yet another layer of its architectural richness—a reminder that good design continues beyond the façade, shaping how we experience a building from every level and every viewpoint.

Final Thoughts

Jaipur is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.

Revisiting the places I explored through these photographs gave me a better understanding of why I love travelling and why design continues to be such a passion for me.

Jaipur taught me an important lesson about the value of good design. For a building to feel rich, it doesn't need to be completely covered in gold or expensive materials. True richness comes from within—from the colors, patterns, proportions, craftsmanship, and architectural elements such as doors, windows, balconies, courtyards, and rooftops.

In Jaipur, all these elements work together as one, creating a distinctive architectural language that reflects the cultural heritage of India and the unique spirit of this extraordinary city.

For me, that is perhaps Jaipur's greatest design lesson: richness in architecture is not about how much you add, but about how beautifully everything comes together.
