A short introduction if you didn't see my previous post about January, the images below refers to a personal project for 2026, creating a daily post with design inspiration images in our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/olivares_hoteldesign/#r , using the first letter of the month as reference-For February, I choose FINLAND.

My visit to Finland was in 2017, and I must confess, we were able to visit only the capital, Helsinki. The pictures here are from that trip. It was around Easter time and we took the opportunity to visits several and beautiful churches, one of them was the the Church of the Rock, on the picture below, with an impressive interior where natural and rough materials are combined creating a very special interior.

One of the most impressive buildings was the main train station, the Facade, flanked by stone sculptures on each side are, together with the whole building and the clock tower, next to it, magnificent examples of the Art Deco architectural period. Vertical and curves lines creating a perfect composition.

Building entrances and Doors: I am a big fan of well designed building entrances and the doors within them, Finland and his capital, Helsinki, have several good examples, reflecting the character and telling the story of the building right from their entry point. Sculptures and names are added to complete the design.

Water: Being a port city, Helsinki architecture should be also be admired from here, the incredible reflections in the water of boats and buildings surrounding the port, are a reminder of their historic significance and the role in the history of this country.

Sun-Lighting: It was a great surprise to have days not only with blue skies, but with an intense and deep Blue that normally I associated with Greece and the Mediterranean coast. The reflections on the buildings were amazing and bring the design of this buildings to a higher level of beauty! Finland, definitely a country to add in your travel list!
